This quick PCR technique was created at the Mayo Clinic and detects M TB complex DNA straight from respiratory specimens and other specimens without needing to wait for growth in culture. One of the tests that aids in the diagnosis and confirmation of a tuberculosis infection is the TB-PCR. The bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the cause of the disease tuberculosis, which typically affects the lungs but may also affect other body regions. It may result in infections of the skin, abdomen, and lungs, as well as TB of the lungs. When afflicted individuals cough, sneeze, or spit, the sickness is spread through the air.
